A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand government, with opposition leader Babulal Marandi alleging that the administration is actively creating new crimes to conceal existing ones. Marandi stated that it has become a modus operandi for the government and the system in Jharkhand to manufacture fresh offenses to cover up ongoing criminal activities. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal sector of Dhanbad have brought to light startling evidence. Most alarming is the alleged directive from some high-ranking police officials, enriched by illegal coal earnings, to eliminate key operatives of coal mafias permanently. Information suggests a sinister plot to assassinate individuals being interrogated by the ED, thereby suppressing crucial truths. This echoes past instances in the state where ‘evidence encounters’ were orchestrated under the guise of apprehending criminals. Jharkhand has previously witnessed a Director General of Police accused of orchestrating contract killings and facing allegations of unprecedented corruption from within the ruling party itself. The ED is urged to proceed with extreme caution in this environment where suppressing truth is rewarded over revealing it. When power, the system, and criminal elements converge, the perversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
