A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand government by BJP State President and Leader of Opposition, Babulal Marandi. He alleges that the state administration is now actively creating new criminal incidents to conceal existing ones. Marandi stated that the practice of manufacturing new crimes to hide ongoing illegal activities has become a disturbing norm for both the government and the system in Jharkhand. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in Dhanbad’s notorious coal syndicate have unearthed significant evidence. However, a particularly alarming revelation is that certain ‘top police officials,’ whose wealth is growing due to illegal coal earnings, have reportedly tasked coal mafia operatives with eliminating their own lower-level associates permanently. This sinister move aims to prevent any incriminating information from reaching the ED, as individuals being questioned by the agency are allegedly being targeted for elimination. Marandi drew parallels to past instances in the state where ‘evidence encounters’ were staged under the guise of apprehending criminals. He recalled a former DGP accused of orchestrating killings for hire and being the most corrupt official Jharkhand has ever seen, with even ruling party members criticizing his extensive corruption. The opposition leader urged the ED to exercise extreme caution, warning that in Jharkhand, those who suppress the truth, rather than those who speak it, hold power. When authority, the system, and criminal syndicates converge, the silencing of justice becomes a mere formality.
