A serious accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand state government, alleging a deliberate effort to conceal criminal activities by fabricating new offenses. The state’s BJP president and Leader of the Opposition, Babulal Marandi, stated that the government and its associated systems have developed a disturbing habit of creating new crimes to mask existing ones. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal mafia’s domain in Dhanbad have unearthed startling evidence. More alarmingly, it’s reported that certain high-ranking police officials, benefiting financially from illicit coal earnings, have allegedly tasked coal mafia operatives with eliminating their own foot soldiers permanently. This sinister plot aims to silence individuals being questioned by the ED, thereby preventing the truth from surfacing. The past has seen similar tactics in this state, where ‘encountering evidence’ was disguised as apprehending criminals. Jharkhand has previously witnessed a Director-General of Police accused of orchestrating contract killings and setting new benchmarks for corruption, with even ruling party members voicing these allegations. The ED is urged to exercise extreme caution, as in this region, it is those who suppress the truth, not those who speak it, who wield power. When political power, systemic machinery, and criminal elements converge, the perversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
