The Jharkhand High Court has taken cognizance of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning the state’s largest government hospital, RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences). The court, comprising Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Rajesh Shankar, heard the case, focusing on the provision of better treatment and essential facilities for patients at RIMS. During the hearing, the bench questioned the state government, RIMS, and the Jharkhand Building Corporation regarding the utilization of allocated funds, including the procurement of medical equipment and the tendering process. Simultaneously, the Additional Medical Superintendent of RIMS has requested the department to increase the daily duty allowance for home guards stationed at the hospital. Currently, home guards receive a daily allowance of ₹500, which is to be revised to ₹1088 per day, pending approval from the home department.
