Following reports of five migrant workers from Giridih district, Jharkhand, being stuck in Niger for two months, another crisis has emerged. Fifteen workers from Jharkhand, including two from Bagodar block, are now stranded in Dubai and pleading for repatriation. The families of the workers are expressing deep concern and appealing to the government for assistance. The stranded workers, employed by Masai Contracting LLC, have not received wages for three months, leading to severe financial distress. This has caused problems for families back home, with one worker’s wife, Kaushila Devi, highlighting the inability to afford basic necessities, including rent and food. Furthermore, the situation has hampered their children’s education and the maintenance of their homes, with one family facing the imminent collapse of their mud house. The families are also requesting help in recovering the unpaid wages.
