In an era dominated by modern technology, the threat of cyber fraud and digital crimes is rapidly escalating. No one is immune to the reach of these cybercriminals, from ordinary citizens to senior administrative officials. Fake accounts are created in the names of officials like the DGP, and the identities of IAS or IPS officers are misused.
However, cybercriminals have now committed a new and serious act. They have hacked the official social media handle X account @JmmJharkhand of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a major political party participating in the government of Jharkhand. The official social media handle of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has fallen victim to a cyberattack, with nonsensical content being posted. The hacking of JMM’s official X handle @JmmJharkhand has been confirmed by Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, who is also the central president of the JMM party.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has shared information through his official social media account that the JMM’s official account has been hacked by some anti-social elements. He has called it a serious cyber crime and demanded immediate investigation and action from @JharkhandPolice. He has also tagged @XCorpIndia and @GlobalAffairs, appealing to them to take cognizance of the matter and take necessary steps to secure the account. Additionally, he expressed hope that the culprits involved in this cyber crime will be brought under the law as soon as possible.
The hacking of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s social media account is currently a topic of discussion, and everyone is watching how the state’s cyber cell and technical agencies deal with this challenge. It is worth noting that before this, cybercriminals attempted to commit fraud by creating fake social media accounts of Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta and senior IAS officer Manju Nath Bhajantri.
