Jharkhand Police Aim to Faster 112 Calls After Handling 1,746 Complaints

Jharkhand’s Eastern Singhbhum district has intensified its 112 emergency response, targeting a sub‑nine‑minute average arrival for police units. The initiative, overseen by senior police officers in Jamshedpur, stresses rapid mobilization after a citizen’s call.

Data released for August indicates that 1,746 complaints were logged via the 112 line, each of which received a complete resolution. The overall average from call receipt to on‑scene presence was recorded at 08 minutes 42 seconds.

From the influx of calls, the police filed 17 FIRs and documented two cases of unlawful detention, reflecting active crime‑prevention measures prompted by the emergency service.

The 112 helpline now covers a broad spectrum of situations, including road mishaps, criminal offenses, domestic disputes, and women‑related emergencies. Once a call is received, the nearest police team is dispatched immediately to the location.

Authorities emphasize that the system’s purpose extends beyond call handling; it aims to ensure that each step—from notification to enforcement and case closure—is executed swiftly. Continuous monitoring will help lower response times even more in the near future.
