In a significant breakthrough, police in West Singhbhum district have cracked the murder case of para-teacher Mukru Degam. Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the brutal killing. The arrested suspects have been identified as Soma Sundi (25), Seenu Gaur (20), and Mangal Karowa (20).
Authorities revealed that the incident occurred on November 29th near Purnapani Bazaar Tola in the Tonto police station area. Mukru Degam, a 50-year-old resident of Purnachasaiba, was at the weekly market when the tragic event unfolded. A dispute overlocally brewed liquor, known as ‘handiya’, reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.
The accused allegedly attacked Degam with stones and sticks, leading to his death. Following the crime, the perpetrators fled the scene. Acting on directives from the Superintendent of Police, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Raifal Murmu. With the assistance of the technical branch, police successfully apprehended all three suspects from Kenjra village on November 30th, a swift operation.
During interrogation, all three have confessed to their involvement in the murder. Based on their confessions, police have recovered crucial evidence, including a blood-stained stone, a wooden stick, and the clothing worn by the accused during the commission of the crime. The swift action by the police has brought closure to the community and ensured that those responsible will face justice for the heinous act.
