Kamlesh Prasad Wins Barvaya Sand Ghat with ₹5.25 Cr Bid, Others Follow

The Jharkhand Tender Portal facilitated the online auction of four sand ghats belonging to Category 2 in Palamu district on Friday, attracting thirteen bidders.

Barvaya sand ghat, situated in Panki block, carried a floor price of ₹1,29,72,623. Kamlesh Prasad emerged as the highest bidder with a sum of ₹5,25,45,300 – nearly five times the reserve price – after an intense series of about fifty bidding rounds, marking a state‑wide record.

In Vishrampur block, the Lalgarh sand ghat was acquired by Pramod Prasad for ₹11,56,28,600. Amit Kumar Sinha secured the Misir Patra sand ghat in Lesliganj block with a bid of ₹6,16,40,500, while Shashikant Gupta (known as Guddhu Gupta) purchased the Kabra Kala sand ghat in Haider Nagar block for ₹3,60,58,600.

The combined revenue from these four ghats totals ₹26,58,73,000. Earlier, the Kanke Khurd sand ghat had also been successfully auctioned, bringing the count of Category‑2 sand ghats sold in Palamu to five.

District Mining Officer Sunil Kumar thanked the participating businessmen and promised that the district administration will extend all required assistance to ensure the ghats are run in compliance with statutory and environmental guidelines.
