Kolkata arrests linked to Ranchi kidnapping of legislator’s son

Authorities in Ranchi have linked a series of arrests in Kolkata to the kidnapping and beating of a state legislator’s son. The incident, which unfolded on September 7 outside EMIT University, saw Saurabh Kumar and his friends become victims of a sudden mob attack after a disagreement with a junior student. The assailants, arriving in a black Scorpion, forced Saurabh into the vehicle, assaulted him, and stole his mobile phone and a gold chain. Police quickly examined campus CCTV, identified the five suspects – Raunak Singh Rajput, Prakash Gupta, Ayush Kumar, Pritam, and Gyandeep – and coordinated with Kolkata law‑enforcement agencies. The coordinated raid resulted in the capture of all five individuals, who are now under interrogation to reveal any additional accomplices and the full chronology of the crime.
