L. Khiyangte stays behind bars as CID court refuses bail

The Special CID Court in Ranchi delivered a setback for former JPSC chairman L. Khiyangte on Saturday, refusing his request for temporary release. The decision came after a hearing that concluded the investigation into the 14th JPSC scandal is still in its investigative phase.

According to the CID, Khiyangte’s role is pivotal in the alleged manipulation of exam results, with evidence pointing to financial exchanges and questionable recruitment decisions. While the defense contended that the search of his residence turned up no incriminating paperwork, the judge ruled that the balance of probabilities favored continued detention until the trial proceeds.
