Police in the Nirsa sub-division of Dhanbad conducted a major crackdown on illegal liquor operations in the areas of Chirkunda and Kalubathan. A joint raid by Chirkunda and Kalubathan police on Wednesday night led to the seizure of a substantial amount of both local and foreign-made liquor. During the operation, two liquor smugglers were apprehended. Simultaneously, raids have been intensified to capture other suspects who managed to escape. Nirsa SDPO, Rajat Manik Bakhla, shared details of the operation during a press conference held on Thursday at the Maithon office. The SDPO stated that the raids were conducted under the direction of senior police officers, targeting the production and sale of illicit alcohol. As part of this effort, a raid was carried out at the residence of Raghunath Tudu in the Kathardiha village of Kalubathan OP area, where a large quantity of liquor was recovered. A liquor vendor named Mangal Tudu was arrested at the scene and revealed the names of others during interrogation. The police are now actively seeking these suspects. Additionally, a raid at a hotel near the Jhundkundar Phatak vegetable market in the Chirkunda police station area resulted in the seizure of a consignment of both foreign and local liquor. The hotel operator attempted to flee, but the police swiftly apprehended him. Both arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections and remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO emphasized that these actions will continue, and no individual involved in illegal liquor trade will be spared.
