Police conducted a major crackdown on illegal liquor businesses in the Chirakunda and Kalubathan areas of the Nirsa sub-division. A joint raid by Chirakunda and Kalubathan police on Wednesday night resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of both country-made and foreign liquor. During the operation, two individuals involved in the illegal liquor trade were apprehended. Further raids are underway to capture other suspects who managed to evade the authorities. The details of the action were disclosed by Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla during a press conference held on Thursday at the office in Maithon. The SDPO stated that the raids were conducted under the direction of senior police officers, targeting the illicit production and sale of alcohol. One raid was conducted at the residence of Raghunath Tudu in the Kaithardih village of Kalubathan OP area, where a large quantity of alcohol was recovered. A liquor seller named Mangal Tudu was arrested at the scene, and he provided information on other individuals involved in the illegal activities. The police are currently searching for these suspects. Another raid took place at a hotel near the Junkundar phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area, where a consignment of foreign and country-made liquor was seized. The hotel operator attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police. Both arrested individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the law and remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO emphasized that the crackdown will continue, and no one involved in the illegal alcohol trade will be spared.
