In Ranchi, Jharkhand, an unidentified assailant entered a home late Sunday evening and opened fire on a man, resulting in his death. The attacker fired approximately five to six rounds. When a second individual attempted to pursue the perpetrator, they were also shot and seriously injured. The incident occurred in the Jhakhara Tand area under the Ratu police station jurisdiction in Ranchi.
The assailant fatally shot Ravi Sao in Jhakhara Tand, firing three bullets. Balma, who had chased the attacker, sustained serious injuries from the gunfire. The incident has caused widespread alarm in the area. Upon receiving information, Ranchi’s Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, DSP, and the Ratu police arrived at the scene. A forensic team is also present, collecting evidence.
Initial investigations suggest a possible land dispute as the motive behind the killing. The deceased was a resident of Tandwa in the Chatra district of Jharkhand. Police have taken possession of the body for a post-mortem examination, and the injured Balma has been admitted to RIMS Hospital for treatment. The reason behind the crime remains unknown, but authorities are investigating the potential involvement of a land dispute.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. SP Praveen Pushkar stated that the deceased, Ravi Sao, was drinking with Dadu Balma at Pradeep Munda’s house when the unknown assailant arrived. The attacker shot Ravi Sao three times, resulting in his death, and also shot Balma, who was chasing him. The police are examining CCTV footage from the area and have initiated checks at entry and exit points of Ranchi in an effort to apprehend the suspect.
The incident has instilled fear and panic among the local population. Earlier on August 10th, a man named Sahil Giddi, also known as Kurkure, was shot dead in broad daylight near Bhatti Chowk in the Hindpidhi police station area of Ranchi. Following that murder, local residents protested, causing damage and arson at the homes of several accused, including a former councilor.
