The Sports Festival was held on Friday at the local District Athletics Stadium, Baralota, on National Sports Day, the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand. Palamu MP V.D. Ram was the chief guest at the event. He interacted with participants in various sports competitions (600-meter race in the Under 16 category, 1600-meter race in the over 16 category, Kho-Kho, and Kabaddi in Under 16) and encouraged them. The MP and District Sports Officer Ratan Kumar Singh honored the winning players with medals, trophies, and certificates. The MP inaugurated the program by garlanding the picture of Major Dhyan Chand. He flagged off the sports events. The MP announced the launch of the MP Sports Festival 2025 on National Sports Day, an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The portal for participants has been open since August 29th. Participants are encouraged to register on the website. The main objective of this program is to nurture the hidden talent of rural and backward areas and provide them with a suitable platform. Sports will be organized at the Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels. Registration will be open from August 29th to September 20th. The festival includes traditional sports like volleyball, badminton, athletics, karate, wrestling, as well as Kho Kho, Kabaddi, and tug-of-war.
