In the Panki police station area of Palamu district, malicious elements poisoned a dam in Mohugai village of Huraung panchayat. The poison killed all the fish in the pond, resulting in losses worth lakhs of rupees for the fish farmers. The dam is leased to Supendra Sao, and the entire village cooperates in fish farming there.
According to villagers, new fish stock was recently introduced into the dam, which was destroyed by miscreants. It is reported that on June 30, Supendra Sao and villagers jointly released 124 kg of fish spawn into the dam. There were already fish in the dam. The villagers were taking care of them, but on Tuesday, the villagers saw a large number of fish floating dead on the surface of the dam. The stench of the fish had spread everywhere. As soon as the villagers got this information, a large crowd gathered at the spot.
The villagers suspected that someone had deliberately put a poisonous substance in the dam. Supendra Sao said that the dam is leased in his name for three years, and he earns his livelihood by fish farming with the help of the village. This year, he and the villagers had spent lakhs of rupees to buy fish, but this incident has ruined their efforts.
Dhananjay Sharma, Vijay Sao, Ravikant Sharma, Pradeep Prajapati, Sumant Kumar Prajapati, Niranjan Prajapati, Surendra Sao, Arvind Prajapati, along with dozens of villagers, said that this is not just an economic loss, but like crushing their dreams.
The fisheries department and local administration were informed about the incident. The villagers have demanded from the administration that necessary steps should be taken for the security of the dam so that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
