Residents of Govindpur village in the Jari block of Chainpur subdivision are expressing their discontent due to a complete halt in electricity supply for the past three months. The villagers reported that a transformer was damaged three months ago due to a lightning strike, leaving the village in darkness since then. Despite repeated notifications to the electricity department, neither a new transformer has been installed nor has the old one been repaired. This negligence has fueled anger among the residents. The lack of electricity leads to darkness in homes as evening approaches, affecting the children’s studies. Children are compelled to study at night using candles or lamps.
Furthermore, the villagers’ concerns have increased due to the rising threat of snakes and scorpions during the rainy season. The villagers stated that this negligence and inaction by the department reflects the indifference of the district administration. They demanded the immediate installation of a new transformer or the repair of the old one to restore electricity supply to the village as soon as possible. The villagers urged the department to take swift action.
Several villagers were present at the site, including Akbar Khan, Mobarak Ansari, Zahid Ansari, Pratap Minj, Laxman Malar, Manuwar Khan, and Belal Ansari.
