Jharkhand, a state rich in water, forests, and natural mineral resources, often finds itself in the news, sometimes for unfortunate reasons. Recently, a trend of issuing threats has emerged. Following threats to the state’s Health Minister, Dr. Irfan Ansari, and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) Director Dr. Rajkumar has received a menacing phone call.
A man named Chandan Kumar threatened the director, vowing to expel him from Ranchi within 15 days, using physical violence. The director mentioned that he had previously met Chandan Kumar, who runs a private hospital in Ranchi. Initially, Chandan Kumar offered assistance when the director was facing removal from his post. However, the director stopped interacting with him when Kumar attempted to interfere in RIMS affairs and sought to influence decisions. The threats escalated when the director refused to comply with Kumar’s pressure regarding transfers and postings, leading to WhatsApp calls filled with abuse and the threat of expulsion from the city.
An FIR has been filed at the Bariatu police station in Ranchi regarding the threats. The police are investigating the matter.
Dr. Rajkumar was previously in the headlines when he was dismissed from the RIMS Director post on April 18, 2025. He challenged the decision in the Jharkhand High Court, which subsequently stayed the removal order on April 28, 2025, allowing him to be reinstated on April 29, 2025.
