Speaking as the chief guest at the JD(U) organized event, Saryu Rai highlighted the significance of the 1974 JP movement. He stated that when corruption and misuse of power were rampant and met with silence, Jayaprakash Narayan galvanized the youth, igniting the call for ‘Sampurna Kranti’ (Total Revolution). Rai emphasized that Narayan’s leadership was so potent it compelled governments to yield. He asserted that the JP movement not only fostered a new wave of political awareness across India but also served as the launchpad for the political careers of many prominent senior leaders today. Rai shared his personal experience of active involvement in the 1974 movement, recounting his role in channeling the energy of the youth.
The event concluded with a resounding call for ‘Sampurna Kranti’, with numerous senior leaders, party workers, and social activists from Janata Dal (United) present.
