In Seraikela, on the fifth day of the Rath Yatra, Hera Panchami witnessed an unusual event as an angered Goddess Lakshmi destroyed the chariot of Lord Jagannath, who was residing in the Gundicha Temple. On Hera Panchami, devotees carried Goddess Lakshmi in a palanquin from the Srimandir to the Gundicha Temple. There, the goddess requested Lord Jagannath to return to the Srimandir with her. Upon his refusal, the enraged goddess broke the chariot. Following this, she returned to the Srimandir in anger.
Furthermore, on Hera Panchami, a Bhajan Sandhya was organized at the Kali Temple Community Hall in Kharsawan. A team led by Laxmidhar Barik from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, captivated the audience with bhajans based on the glory of Lord Jagannath. Odisha singers Laxmidhar Barik, Pratap Chandra Mohapatra, Sita Rani, Seema Kumari, and Sarat Kumar presented Odia bhajans. The artists also performed many other bhajans filled with devotion to Lord Jagannath.
