A crucial District Road Safety Committee meeting was held in Simdega, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kanchan Singh. The primary focus of the discussion was road accident statistics from January to September 2025. During this period, a total of 104 road accidents were recorded, with 7 in August and 6 in September. Sadly, 94 lives were lost in these accidents from January to September, with four fatalities occurring in both August and September. To address accident causes and implement solutions, progress was reported on directives from the previous meeting. The tendering process for the construction of Pandripani and Arani bridges on National Highway 23 has been completed, with construction set to commence post-tender. Repair work on road flanks damaged by the monsoon is also underway. The Road Construction Department has installed speed breakers at identified accident-prone locations on various routes.
