A potential disaster was averted on Tuesday when smoke emerged from a coach of the Garib Rath train en route from Delhi to Ranchi. Passengers panicked as smoke billowed from coach G-5, prompting many to jump from the moving train out of fear. Several sustained injuries, though no major damage was reported. The incident occurred between Ghaziabad and Khurda, causing alarm among the passengers. The TT (Train Ticket Examiner) informed the guard and loco pilot, leading to a slowdown of the train. However, fear of the unknown led many passengers to jump before the train fully stopped. After the train halted, railway officials inspected the coach, but passengers were not informed about the cause of the issue. They were later asked to re-enter the coach after a 35-minute delay. Senior DCM Shuchi Singh stated she had no information about the incident.
