A significant attempt to steal copper cables from the Tata Steel Works premises was foiled thanks to the vigilance of the company’s security department. Security personnel acted swiftly to apprehend four young men, handing them over to the police. The arrested individuals are now in police custody as legal proceedings commence.
The incident occurred around 1 AM on Saturday night. During a routine patrol, security guards at Tata Steel Works caught the four youths red-handed attempting to transport heavy sacks filled with copper cables. The recovered cables weighed approximately 690 kilograms, with an estimated market value of around INR 1,97,000.
The apprehended suspects have been identified as residents of the Garib Nawaz Colony and Gaush Nagar areas in Mango. Their ages range from 24 to 26 years.
Company security personnel reported that their suspicions were raised, leading them to immediately cordon off the area. The four youths were apprehended while attempting to flee with the sacks of cables. The security team successfully seized the cables and detained the perpetrators at the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Bistupur police arrived at the location and took the four youths into custody for further legal action. This timely intervention by the security department has successfully prevented a potentially larger theft within the works premises.
