Three-Day Orientation Program Concludes for New Entrant Students at IIIT Ranchi
Ranchi, The three-day orientation program for the newly admitted B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. students of the academic session 2026-27 at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi was organized from September 22 to 24 at the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) auditorium. The objective of the program was to familiarize new students with the institute's academic system, research and career opportunities, and campus life, while fostering confidence, creativity, and a spirit of participation among them.
The program commenced with traditional lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. Students were provided information about the institute's academic and administrative system, discipline, research opportunities, and student activities by the heads of various departments and associate deans. Senior students introduced the newcomers to the various technical, cultural, sports, and other clubs of the institute.
During the orientation program, various competitions and cultural activities were organized for the new students, including musical chairs, singing, dancing, fashion shows, poetry, stand-up comedy, and drama. Students participated enthusiastically in these activities, showcasing their talent and creativity.
Expert lectures were also organized during the program to connect students with industry and contemporary issues. Ms. Nivedita Pandey addressed students on Applied Artificial Intelligence and Governance, Mr. Mrityunjay Sharma on Cyber Security, Cyber Fraud Awareness, and Career Opportunities, and Dr. Mahasweta Bhattacharya on Cognitive Health and Emotional Resilience.
The main attraction of the program was the selection of Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2026. Based on their performance in various competitions and activities, first-year student Jadafiya Mahir Maheshbhai was selected as Mr. Fresher 2026, and Parul Nimje was selected as Ms. Fresher 2026. Both winners were honored by the Director of IIIT Ranchi, Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Srivastava, and the Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology, Prof. Dharmendra Kumar Singh.
In the concluding ceremony, Director Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Srivastava inspired students to strive for excellence, innovation, continuous learning, and to become responsible citizens. Prof. Dharmendra Kumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JUT, encouraged students to achieve new heights in their higher education and professional lives. Subsequently, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions and activities.
The successful organization of the program was conducted under the guidance and patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi, with the coordination and support of Associate Dean Dr. Jitendra Mishra and Faculty In-charges Dr. Gaurav Sundaram, Dr. Rajesh Dwivedi, and Dr. Ankita Kumari. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and the national anthem.
The three-day program paved the way for a positive and enthusiastic start to the academic and professional lives of the new entrant students at IIIT Ranchi.
