A major accident was narrowly avoided on the Torpa main road in Khunti on Sunday, near Gupta Hardware. A tragedy was averted when a trailer truck, parked by the roadside near Mahadev Fruit shop, began to roll backward while its driver was away buying fruit. The runaway trailer traveled approximately 200 meters before violently colliding with a stationary tempo. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the tempo and also impacting a nearby electricity transformer, leaving it damaged. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, preventing potential loss of life. Local residents quickly responded to the scene, managing the situation and alerting the electricity department. Police have also inspected the site and have registered a case. Witnesses reported that the road was busy at the time of the accident, but the quick thinking of bystanders helped prevent further harm. The Torpa police have seized the trailer truck and taken it to the police station for investigation.
