Two Arrested, 330 L of Illegal Liquor Seized in Eastern Singhbhum

Bagbeda police in Eastern Singhbhum successfully curtailed a major illegal liquor operation, seizing 330 litres of country‑made spirit and arresting two alleged smugglers. The seized vehicle, a black Bolero bearing the number JH 05D 0736, was stopped after a tip‑off reached senior police ranks.

The accused – Vikas Vishal, alias Chotu (31), and Dhiren Tanti, alias Pintu – are both from Bhuiai Dih Gwala Basti. Both men were taken into custody at the scene along with two mobile phones and a cash sum of Rs 7,550.

According to DSP Sumit Kumar, a warning about a large consignment moving from Jagannathpur turn prompted the formation of a special raid team. Checks were initiated near the Shiv temple at Jagannathpur.

At roughly 2:15 pm the Bolero arrived. The driver attempted to flee, but police pursued, halted the vehicle and uncovered eleven barrels of illicit liquor hidden in its middle and rear compartments.

The case has been formally recorded at Bagbeda police station, and further operations are underway to locate additional participants in the liquor trafficking ring.
