In a shocking incident, armed criminals brutally murdered a village head in the Khunti district of Jharkhand. The assailants, numbering over half a dozen, entered the victim’s home late Saturday night. They first assaulted the village head with sticks and batons before shooting him dead. The village head’s nephew, who tried to intervene, was also seriously injured in the attack. He has been hospitalized for treatment.
The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall in the area. The armed criminals forcefully entered the home of Gram Pradhan (village head) Balram Manda. Before he could react, they launched a violent attack using sticks, batons, and other weapons, ultimately shooting him. The attackers remained in the house for approximately half an hour, during which they also ransacked the property.
Following the murder, the criminals fled the scene. News of the brutal assault spread rapidly throughout the village and surrounding areas. Police from the Maranghada police station arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators. It is suspected the motive may have been robbery, or perhaps a dispute.
Balram Manda, the deceased village head, was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Khunti district. He had previously served as a BJP Mandal Minister. Following the news of his murder, former Jharkhand Minister Nilkanth Singh Munda, along with other party leaders, visited the bereaved family and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
