Wanted human trafficker from Jharkhand arrested in Delhi, a victim from Khunti rescued
New Delhi/Ranchi:- In a joint operation by Chaibasa Police, Delhi Police, and a local NGO, coordinated by the Integrated Rehabilitation Cum Resource Centre, Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi, run by the Women and Child Development Department of the Jharkhand government, a wanted human trafficker from Jharkhand was arrested in Delhi on Saturday morning. During this operation, a girl from Khunti district, a victim of human trafficking, was also safely rescued.
There were multiple FIRs registered against the arrested human trafficker in Chaibasa since 2023 for human trafficking cases, and the court had also issued an arrest warrant. Chaibasa Police had previously attempted to arrest the accused multiple times in Delhi but had not been successful.
This time, under a joint strategy of Chaibasa Police, Delhi Police, a local NGO, and the Integrated Rehabilitation Cum Resource Centre, continuous reconnaissance of the accused's suspected locations and surrounding areas had been conducted for the past two to three days. In this sequence, the accused was arrested from his hideout around 6 AM on Saturday. After the arrest, the accused was presented in court, from where Chaibasa Police obtained a four-day remand.
In the course of this operation, another human trafficker was also arrested, from whose house a girl from Khunti district was recovered. The said girl was safely rescued from the Subhash Place police station area of Delhi. Her medical examination has been conducted, and she is currently kept in a safe house. As per the prescribed procedure, the girl will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to ensure further action for her safe rehabilitation.
Mr. Umashankar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Development, stated that the department's policy on human trafficking cases is completely zero tolerance. He has given clear instructions to all districts of the state to ensure immediate action upon receiving information about any such case. Furthermore, the District Social Welfare Officers and District Child Protection Officers of the concerned districts have been directed to immediately form a joint team and send it to New Delhi if necessary, so that victim children and women can be safely rescued and rehabilitated in their home districts.
He added that after rehabilitation, the victim children will be connected with various welfare schemes run by the Jharkhand government and their continuous monitoring will also be ensured so that they do not fall into the trap of human trafficking again.
The Department of Women and Child Development is continuously working sensitively and actively against human trafficking. As a result of this, hundreds of children and women from Jharkhand who have been victims of human trafficking have been safely rescued and successfully rehabilitated so far, and they have also been provided benefits from various social security and welfare schemes of the state government.
It is known that the Integrated Rehabilitation Cum Resource Centre, Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi, is an important institution operated by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Jharkhand, which is continuously working for the protection, rescue, rehabilitation, and repatriation of women and children trapped in human trafficking and other distress situations.
