Karnataka Cyber Command Cracks Down on Fake QuickBooks Scam

Authorities in Bengaluru have dismantled a well-organized scam operation posing as QuickBooks representatives to defraud US citizens. The operation involved multiple call centers operating under the cover of legitimate accounting services. Police teams simultaneously raided four sites and recovered 44 SSDs, nine CPUs, two laptops, and two mobile phones along with pre-written scripts used to manipulate victims. The suspects used American-sounding names and official-sounding titles to gain trust before demanding hefty fees. The investigation has revealed that the fraudsters relied on a network of shell companies to receive and launder proceeds. Detectives continue to examine bank records and communication logs to identify additional accomplices and trace the money trail back to its source.
