Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has declared that the state government will undertake a new caste survey. This announcement follows discussions in Delhi with the Congress high command, where the importance of re-evaluating the caste census data was emphasized. The survey, which is expected to be completed within 90 days, aims to address concerns raised by various organizations and religious leaders. The decision comes after the last enumeration conducted in 2015-16, recognizing the need for updated data. Discussions also covered the recent Bengaluru stampede, with the CM briefing the leadership on the actions taken, including investigations and suspensions. Siddaramaiah also addressed the need to avoid politicizing such tragedies, drawing parallels to the Maha Kumbh Mela incident earlier this year.
