A cloudburst struck parts of the Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir during the night of August 16-17, resulting in a tragic situation. The disaster claimed the lives of at least four individuals and left six others injured. The torrential rain caused significant destruction, with several houses in the Ghati area buried under debris and floodwaters. Damage has also been reported along the Jammu–Pathankot National Highway. Rescue operations are currently underway to assist those affected.
The aftermath of the cloudburst is being actively addressed by local authorities. The civilian administration, military, and paramilitary forces have mobilized to provide aid and support. The situation is being closely monitored as rescue efforts continue and the extent of the damage is assessed.
