Khandalwal Calls for Strong Response to Anti‑Democratic Swings in Parliament

Praveen Khandalwal, a senior BJP representative, told reporters that the recent attempts by opposition legislators to interrupt House proceedings are intolerable. He said the acts reflect a broader strategy to undermine democratic debate and keep the spotlight away from the opposition’s own shortcomings.

He argued that when Parliament functions smoothly, the opposition’s lack of substantive policies becomes evident, prompting them to resort to theatrics. Khandalwal urged the government to formulate a decisive plan to curb such behaviour and restore order.

The lawmaker also dismissed Mallikarjun Kharge’s emotional appeals, labeling them as “political melodrama.” He reminded listeners that the Prime Minister has already addressed concerns related to student welfare through legislation, making further agitation unnecessary.

On the issue of the FCRA Bill, Khandalwal explained that the legislation seeks transparency on foreign funding usage. He questioned why opposition parties oppose it, suggesting that their resistance stems from fear of accountability for any foreign contributions they receive.
