Law‑order, Health and Road Projects Come Under Fire in Uttar Pradesh

Akhilesh Yadav, national president of the Samajwadi Party, delivered a scathing critique of the Yogi‑Adityanath ministry at a conference in Lucknow on August 5.

He began by questioning the state’s law‑and‑order record, stating that police actions have repeatedly fallen short of protecting citizens. Yadav contrasted this with the advanced police response framework that was rolled out during the previous socialist tenure, which he said remains untouched by the current government.

Health sector shortcomings were next on his agenda. Yadav claimed that the state health department now depends on “self‑treatment,” with hospitals losing the ability to provide decent care to ordinary people.

Infrastructure quality also featured prominently. He argued that the construction of roads in Kanpur and Gorakhpur, along with the Ganga Expressway, has been plagued by sub‑standard workmanship despite massive spending, leading to early defects and safety concerns.

The leader further lamented the state’s failure to secure fertilizer supplies for farmers, describing a system where bag weights are tampered with and distribution stalls force farmers to queue for hours.

Wrapping up, Yadav warned that the BJP’s mishandling of religion‑related finances, agricultural support, public safety, health and infrastructure has eroded its credibility among youth and marginalized sections, a trend that will likely surface in the upcoming polls.
