The area of moong has reached 14.5 lakh hectares in the state this year. The total production is estimated to be around 20 to 21 lakh tonnes. This is not only a proof of the hard work of farmers, but is also a big step towards setting up the state in the country’s leading moong producing states. This crop of moong can make a significant increase in the annual income of farmers. Digvijay Singh has mentioned serious deficiencies in the arrangement of purchase on MSP. According to the complaints received, about 75 percent of the farmers have to sell their produce at the rates below the minimum support price.
