Ajayarvind Namdev, Shahdol. The criminal complaint filed on an alleged inflammatory and unconstitutional statement made by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the narrator of Bageshwar Dham, will now be heard on 2 June 2025. The hearing of the case was scheduled in Shahdol’s Judicial Magistrate first class court today i.e. on 20 May. But the hearing could not be held due to the judge being on leave. Its next date has been given June 2.

    What is the matter?

Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri had allegedly said during a public event in Prayagraj about Mahakumbh 2025- “Every person should come to Mahakumbh, whoever does not come will regret and be called a traitor.” Advocate Sandeep Tiwari, a resident of Shahdol, raised a serious objection to this statement. He says that this statement is not only unconstitutional but also provoking social disharmony and religious sentiments.

Pandit Dhirendra Shastri was to be presented in court today

Advocate Sandeep Tiwari first lodged a written complaint regarding the matter at Sohagpur, District Shahdol police station on 4 February 2025. But when no action was taken by the police, the case was referred to Shahdol SP. When no concrete steps were taken from there, the lawyer presented a criminal complaint on 3 March 2025 in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shahdol. Accepting the complaint after a preliminary hearing, the court duly issued a notice to Pandit Dhirendra Shastri to present his case by appearing in the court on 20 May 2025.

Now the next hearing will be held on June 2, today on 20 May when the hearing of this case was scheduled. At that time, the hearing could not be held due to the judicial magistrate first class Shahdol being on leave. Advocate Sandeep Tiwari informed that now the court has fixed the next hearing date of this case on 2 June 2025.

Now it has to be seen what attitude comes out in the court on June 2 and what explanation or reply is presented by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. Due to the matter being associated with the dignity of public sentiments and expression, the eyes of the country are on it.
