A man in Maharashtra was forced to travel 90 kilometers by bus, carrying the body of his newborn in a carry bag after being denied an ambulance. The incident occurred at Nashik Civil Hospital.
Sakharam Kavar, the father, reported that he lost his newborn daughter due to alleged negligence and apathy within the healthcare system. His wife went into labor on June 11 at Khodala PHC. Despite attempts to contact an ambulance, Asha workers, and 108, he received no response. He arranged a private vehicle to take his wife to Khodala Public Health Centre.
At the PHC, his wife was reportedly made to wait for an hour before being referred to Mokhada Civil Hospital. Doctors at Mokhada Civil Hospital then advised transferring her to Nashik Civil Hospital after they couldn’t detect the fetus’s heartbeat. An ambulance was eventually arranged from Aase village to transport her to Nashik Civil Hospital, where she delivered a stillborn baby on June 12.
In a separate incident in Madhya Pradesh, a 25-year-old man set himself on fire and later died from the injuries. The incident reportedly stemmed from issues with his partner, specifically related to financial matters. The man, identified as Ajay Kushwaha, set himself ablaze in front of the woman’s house on June 13.
