Indian Navy and Coast Guard Jointly Rescue Injured Bangladeshi Crew Member

New Delhi – On September 24, a coordinated maritime response saved a Bangladeshi crewman from a life‑threatening situation in the Andaman waters. The Coast Guard’s rescue centre in Vijayapuram received a distress call about MV Emrys, where a 36‑year‑old sailor had been knocked overboard and endured severe head and spinal trauma.

The CG vessel Rajdoot braved high seas to retrieve the victim, administering first‑aid before a naval helicopter air‑lifted him to the base at Shri Vijaypuram. He was subsequently admitted to GB Pant Hospital for specialized treatment.

The operation highlighted the synchronized capabilities of India’s maritime agencies, delivering prompt medical evacuation despite challenging weather.
