Sonam Raghuvanshi, arrested in connection with the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, has denied any role in the crime. Authorities apprehended her at a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, Sonam stated she was kidnapped and did not kill anyone. Her family has also come to her defense, with her father, Devi Singh Raghuvanshi, asserting her innocence. The couple had married with the consent of both families.

Meghalaya police revealed that Sonam is accused of orchestrating the murder in Sohra. Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly killed by individuals hired by her. After the incident, she disappeared and was later found in Ghazipur. Three alleged attackers, Raj Singh Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, and Vishal Singh Chauhan, were arrested. Police in East Khasi Hills shared details of the arrests. Sonam is now in custody, and legal procedures are underway to transport her to Meghalaya. The three arrested men were sent to Meghalaya on transit remand. Raja’s body was discovered near Weisawdong Falls, 10 days after he went missing. The couple had married on May 11 in Indore and traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, disappearing on May 23, shortly after leaving a homestay. Police found a white shirt, medicine strips, part of a phone screen, and a smartwatch at the crime scene.
