Meghalaya Minister Alexander Laloo Hek has labeled the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi as a “pure organized and pre-planned crime.” The five key accused, including Sonam Raghuvanshi, have been remanded to eight-day police custody. Minister Hek emphasized the government’s and the people of Meghalaya’s desire for the perpetrators to be punished according to the law. He expressed satisfaction that Raja Raghuvanshi’s family had apologized to the government and police after initially blaming them. Hek also praised the Meghalaya police for their work in apprehending the suspects and noted the discovery of a mangalsutra and ring from Sonam Raghuvanshi’s suitcase as a crucial clue. Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered in Meghalaya, and his body was found in a gorge near Cherrapunji. Sonam Raghuvanshi and four others are accused in the case.
