Meta India received a formal directive from the NHRC to furnish a comprehensive report on the alleged presence of child‑sexually exploitative material on its platforms, Instagram and Facebook. The commission seeks clarification on whether the URLs have been taken down, blocked or restricted, and what safeguards are in place to stop future uploads of such content.
In addition, Meta is required to preserve all related accounts, metadata, IP logs and digital records for forensic examination. The NHRC also queried Meta’s compliance with the POCSO law, specifically whether local police or specialised juvenile units have been informed of any confirmed CSAM findings.
