MLC Election Results: SP Claims Public Has Rejected BJP Rule

Lucknow, October 29: Uttar Pradesh's political climate has become heated after the results of the MLC elections conducted through ballot papers. The Samajwadi Party has used the outcome to challenge the BJP, questioning the fairness of the process, the role of administration, and the state government's record.

The SP's spokesperson, Fakhrul Hasan Chand, alleged that the BJP had not responded to queries about its performance in Uttar Pradesh. He said the party was taking pleasure in the Congress's losses while staying silent on its own losses in the state and the Varanasi results.

He asserted that the BJP should clarify why it had faced defeat in Uttar Pradesh. Chand also charged that the party had slowed the voting process during the ballot paper polls. In some areas, he claimed, BJP workers had misused administrative resources in an effort to sway the outcome.

Samajwadi Party MP from Ayodhya, Awadhesh Prasad, described the MLC results as a sign of public resentment toward the BJP government. He argued that the results conveyed a clear message that the government's days were numbered.

According to Prasad, people from every walk of life were unhappy with the government's policies, functioning, and decisions. He claimed the BJP government would remain in power only until the next election was announced.

He also called Azam Khan a senior and effective leader of the party and said the Samajwadi Party would stand with him. Prasad linked the action against Khan to the mindset of the BJP government.

Ashutosh Verma, another SP spokesperson, commented on the Congress's performance by saying that where the party had won or lost was its own internal matter.

Verma said the Samajwadi Party had achieved a strong result by winning five of the 11 seats allotted to it. He noted that where some candidates had received fewer than 2,000 votes, SP candidates were leading by margins between 17,000 and 18,000 votes.

He attributed the performance to the party's election planning and the strength of its organisation. Verma added that Akhilesh Yadav, the party's president, had consistently maintained that the real goal was to win, not just to secure seats.

In Varanasi, SP MP Virendra Singh said the party's candidate had crossed a winning margin of over 17,000 votes, and that only the formal certificate of victory was yet to be received.

Singh stated that on Akhilesh Yadav's instructions, workers, MLAs, and other party members from various districts had remained at the counting centre for the past 24 hours. He said all workers were maintaining discipline while keeping a watchful eye on the electoral process.
