Monthly KPI Reviews to Drive Results in UP Schools Through 2027
Lucknow, November 2: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a detailed plan to make school education more results-driven and accountable. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the schedule covers November-December 2026 and January 2027.
Directions issued by Monica Rani, Director General of School Education and State Project Director, underline the need for constant tracking of academic activities through Performance Indicators (KPIs). The directions also stress meeting deadlines on time.
Both district and block-level officials have been asked to ensure that planned activities are carried out and that progress details are uploaded to the relevant portal. Every activity must be finished within the set timeframe, and its status must be recorded online.
KPIs will be assessed in monthly meetings so that programme implementation, target achievement and accountability can be reinforced. For quality education, district-level meetings will be held, and the District Task Force will carry out monthly reviews using data from the National Benchmarking and Monitoring Committee (NBMC). The BSA has been directed to conduct weekly reviews with BEOs, and BEOs and ARPs are to meet every month.
Minutes of these meetings will be placed on the portal. Officials must also ensure that Samagra Shiksha and PM POSHAN activities and expenditure details are updated on the portal on time.
Teacher training will focus on block-level sessions and training as per official guidelines. Teachers will be asked to make use of digital content on DIKSHA and the Nishtha course, and to strengthen project-based, activity-based and catch-up teaching.
The state will also monitor progress toward Nipun goals, student assessments and the updating of progress cards and registers. Nipun school assessments for Classes 1 and 2 will be conducted fairly and on schedule from December 21 to 30, 2026, and January 20 to 30, 2027. Efforts will also be made to ensure students reach Nipun goals and that project-based teaching material is used in schools.
Construction monitoring will cover the progress and quality of CM Model Composite Schools in 75 districts. For girls' education, sanctioned KGBV buildings must be completed, student attendance and enrollment must be watched closely, and the prescribed number of schools must be inspected by officials.
Under RTE, all children allotted to schools will be verified 100 per cent on the portal.
In pre-primary education, admission of children aged 3 to 6 years in Bal Vatika, ECCE activities and coordination with Anganwadi centres will be monitored. Community participation activities such as Learning by Doing, the School Chalo Abhiyan and out-of-school children surveys and enrollment will be run.
Under inclusive education, children with special needs will be identified, the availability of assistive devices and resources will be ensured, and essential data will be updated on the U-DISE+ portal.
In the MIS, progress will be recorded on new enrollment in U-DISE, district ranking information, ICT, smart classes, digital libraries and APAR ID work.
State Minister for Basic Education Sandeep Singh said, “The Yogi government is committed to quality education and better learning for students in the state. The prescribed KPIs will ensure regular monitoring of educational activities and timely achievement of targets.”
