Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case of Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, an Indore couple who went missing in Shillong, Meghalaya. Raja’s body was later found, but Sonam remains missing. Chief Minister Yadav stated his support for Sonam Raghuvanshi’s family and mentioned he had discussed the matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He also noted that senior police officers from Madhya Pradesh are in constant contact with Meghalaya officials. The family of Raja Raghuvanshi had previously requested a CBI inquiry in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following the recovery of his remains from a gorge in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya. The couple was last seen on May 23, during their honeymoon, with their phones later switched off that evening. Vipul Raghuvanshi, Raja’s brother, expressed the family’s desire for a CBI investigation to bring justice and aid in finding Sonam. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma offered condolences and assured that all necessary steps would be taken to address the situation.
