Planning a trip to the scenic hills of Mussoorie? The Uttarakhand Tourism Department has implemented mandatory online registration for all visitors. This new regulation, prompted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), aims to protect Mussoorie’s fragile ecosystem and manage the increasing influx of tourists and associated environmental challenges.
Uttarakhand CM Dhami stated that this registration system prioritizes the safety and convenience of all tourists, with comprehensive arrangements in place. The system is designed to monitor tourist numbers, manage traffic, and preserve the natural beauty of the region.
Mussoorie, a popular hill station, has experienced overcrowding, leading to traffic congestion and strain on local infrastructure. The digital registration system, similar to the Chardham Yatra, will help the administration control the number of visitors. Before visiting, all travelers must register through the official website, providing details like name, contact information, travel dates, and vehicle registration (if applicable). Upon successful registration, a QR code will be generated for verification at checkpoints and hotels.
This process offers several benefits: real-time assessment of tourist numbers, improved traffic and parking management, environmental protection, and better city planning. While some hoteliers have raised concerns, officials believe this step is crucial for Mussoorie’s sustainable development. Visitors are urged to register online before their trip to ensure a smooth experience and contribute to preserving the ‘Queen of Hills’.
