Nashik Crime Branch Nabs Five, Confiscates 30 Kg Cannabis

Nashik Police have achieved another success in their ongoing war against narcotics. In a well-planned raid on the Agra-Mumbai highway, the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Crime Branch recovered 30 kilograms of ganja packed in three taped bundles and arrested five persons. The operation was triggered by a citizen tip received on the police WhatsApp number. Officers tracked a suspicious Honda City vehicle and laid a trap near Adgaon. When the car was signalled to stop, the driver tried to escape, prompting a high-speed chase that ended with the vehicle being intercepted. Inside the car’s boot, police discovered 30 kg of ganja worth over Rs 6 lakh. The Honda City itself is valued at around Rs 6 lakh, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 12.01 lakh. Four additional suspects were later detained from Mumbai and Shirpur. Cases have been registered under the NDPS Act. The five accused were presented in court and sent to police custody. Investigators are now examining whether this consignment was part of a larger supply chain feeding urban markets.
