The upcoming Vice Presidential election, scheduled for September 9th, has intensified the political atmosphere. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) announced its support for the INDIA bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, in the election.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi confirmed the party’s backing for B. Sudarshan Reddy in a post on ‘X’.
Owaisi stated that the Telangana Chief Minister’s office had contacted him, requesting support for B. Sudarshan Reddy, the INDIA alliance’s candidate in the Vice Presidential election. He mentioned that AIMIM had decided to support B. Sudarshan Reddy.
In his post, MP Owaisi highlighted that Justice Sudarshan Reddy hails from Hyderabad and is recognized as a jurist. Owaisi added that he personally spoke with Reddy and conveyed his best wishes, stating that supporting him, given his connection to Telangana, is a matter of pride for the party.
The INDIA alliance has nominated Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate for the Vice President, who is contesting against NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan. Owaisi’s support for Reddy is considered a significant development in Telangana politics, potentially strengthening Justice Reddy’s position.
Discussing the decision to support Sudarshan Reddy, Owaisi emphasized that the protection of constitutional values and democracy has been the foundation of his career. He also indicated that the decision reflects the party’s principles and regional identity. Positive reactions to Owaisi’s support have also emerged from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other political circles.
