Northwest Monsoon Expands into Uttarakhand, Orange Alert Issued for Heavy Rain

The southwest monsoon, which entered Uttarakhand on Tuesday, spread across the entire state by Wednesday. Recognising the rapid progression, the weather department released an Orange Alert for Thursday, warning of heavy to very heavy rain in Dehradun and five surrounding districts. Authorities cautioned that the intensified rainfall could trigger waterlogging, landslides, and related hazards in vulnerable locations. The monsoon’s swift advance marks a significant shift in weather patterns for northern India, with expectations of broader precipitation in the coming days.
