NPP members dominate party defections between 2022 and 2026

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) compiled affidavits of 111 current lawmakers who switched parties after their electoral victories. The largest group of originators were from the National People's Party (NPP) with 25 members, followed by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) with 20 and the Indian National Congress with 19. Additional parties that saw sizeable outflows include the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (9), Aam Aadmi Party (7), Nationalist Congress Party (7) and Shiv Sena‑UBT (6). After changing sides, the highest numbers joined the Naga People’s Front (32), the Bharatiya Janata Party (29) and the Nationalist Congress Party‑I (20).
