Nuh district in Haryana is experiencing a curfew-like situation today, with strict restrictions and heightened security in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. Schools in the district have been shut down for the day. Authorities have prohibited the carrying of weapons, including licensed firearms, swords, and other potentially dangerous items. However, the sheathed kirpan, a religious symbol of the Sikh community, is exempted. The use of DJs, loudspeakers, or sound-amplifying devices with religiously provocative content is also banned. Approximately 2,500 police personnel have been deployed, and a holiday has been declared in both government and private schools. This comes in the wake of the 2023 violence during the Brij Mandal Yatra, which resulted in casualties and significant damage.
