Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasized that the onus of strengthening the INDIA alliance rests with its largest partner. He expressed disappointment that the alliance partners have not convened since the elections. Abdullah stated, “The responsibility to strengthen the INDIA alliance belongs to the biggest partner of the INDIA Alliance.” He noted the lack of recent meetings, the last one being held at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence shortly after the elections. On the topic of statehood for J&K, Abdullah reiterated the desire for the region to regain full state status, emphasizing the perceived betrayal of being made a Union Territory. He called for the central government to expedite the process and restore J&K’s statehood, including the responsibility for its security. Regarding the Supreme Court’s decision on electoral rolls in Bihar, Abdullah acknowledged the court’s ruling and advocated for respecting the democratic process by ensuring elections are held regardless of the circumstances.
